Working at Soul Signature Tattoo since
I’ve been tattooing since 1999. With the artistic vision of Joel Albanez and the knowledge and guidance of Suluape Aisea Toetu'u, collectively the three of us started Soul Signature, in late 2004. Style I specialize in Contemporary Asian tattooing. Who are you? What is your background? I’m a Hawai’i, native. Born and raised on Oahu. How did you get into tattooing? Though graffiti I was able to connect with many talented and creative young people. One of them was Orly Loquiao (owner and founder of Humble Beginnings tattoo). He introduced me to the world of tattooing. From there I met Suluape Aisea, Po’oino Yrondi and Mike Ledger. Together we worked at New tribal Polynesian Tattoo in Waikiki, where I served my apprenticeship. |
What interests you the most in tattooing?
All aspects of tattooing interest me. Everything is a process. You can never know everything. Like any art form you are always learning and continuously being humbled. How do you keep yourself inspired? I stay inspired by surrounding myself with good, productive, positive people. Traveling is also a big source of inspiration for me. Do you have any specific hobbies besides work/tattooing? Aside from traveling I don’t have many hobbies these days. I usually spend most of my down time drawing or painting for personal projects and plotting how I will take over the world. |
